Is Google making us stupid? Some people, including Nicolas Carr, think that it is. I disagree with that specific statement; if he had said the internet is making us stupid, then i would agree. We are given a fast and easy way to retrieve any information we want, and all we do is skim over a lot of data rather than actually read it. then, when we finally do go to sit down and read something, we can't sit there the whole time. the internet has made things too fast and too easy for us to do things properly anymore, and i totally agree with that. despite how much i like being able to complete research in under a few hours, i dont feel that it is as helpful to me as if i went out to the library to read. however, not many people see doing research as something to actually work on, they just want to get it done and over with as quickly as possible. to read a slightly similar view, you can read
New Class(room) War: Teacher vs. Technology, which basically says that technology is getting in the way of our learning and advancement. Be warned, that article is so biased against technology, I'm even surprised it's even on the internet! its striking to believe that the internet has so many uses that its actually bringing us down in some ways. at first, it was just a tool to be used to gather information to make us smarter, and now we realize that we're really going the other way.
